The townspeople look at the Griffin with hearts in their eyes, showering her with admiration and love. The Griffin looks embarrassed.

THE GRIFFIN: "I-I didn't want to lose my gold, that's all."

THE GRIFFIN: "Stop looking at me like that."

PAGE 21, PANEL 2

Close-up of the dragon's fearsome teeth, showing why it was dangerous.

NARRATOR: "Her people were grateful to her but also horrified that although she was immune to metal and stone, she was still quite vulnerable to tooth and claw."

PAGE 21, PANEL 3

The blacksmith holds up a coat of chain mail.

NARRATOR: "Soon after the dragon attack, the blacksmith presented her with a coat of chain mail."

PAGE 21, PANEL 4

The blacksmith kneels before the Griffin, offering the armor.

BLACKSMITH: "M'lady, there are many tribes who still hunt with arrows of horn and daggers of dragon claw. Please..."

BLACKSMITH: "Wear it and grant us peace of mind."

THE GRIFFIN: "Thanks, but I don't need it."

The Gryphon is a lot like a “macho guy” in some respects. She’s terrified of showing people that she actually cares about them. After all those years of killing and hating, she’s having a change of heart. Awww… She can’t help it, but she likes them!
