Beauty Is as Beauty Does, Page 4

PANEL 1

An expanded collection of makeup items: the original palette, mascara, and eyeliner, now joined by bright pink nail polish, a tube of lip gloss, and an expanded eyeshadow palette with four colors (blue, purple, blue, yellow). A compact of purple powder/blush is also visible.

PANEL 2

The girl, now wearing dramatic purple eyeshadow and pink lipstick, is approached by a woman with dark skin and curly hair at what appears to be a party or club. Other people socialize in the background.

CURLY-HAIRED WOMAN: "Hey, come to the show with us!"

PANEL 3

Caption: "So..."

The girl dances joyfully at a concert or show, surrounded by other dancing figures including the curly-haired woman. Stars and lights fill the dark background as everyone moves to the music.

Yay, I included another character who isn’t blatantly white! Was the afro too much? I love that hair style. I hope it comes back into vogue and stays there. The smooth styles look ok, but they look so straight-laced and stiff. It’s like the hair equivalent of a button down shirt and khakis. I like big foofy hair. It’s like a good pair of go-go boots: Great for dancing, great for the office, great for the art gallery, and your grandmother probably showed you how to work ‘em. Not that my grand mother had go-go boots. But if I could pick a grandma, I’d pick one with a pair of go-go boots stashed in the back of her closet.

Need… go-go boots… white… vinyl… boots…
