Panel 1

Cora stands alone while a group of children chat together, ignoring her.

NARRATION: Although she was a nice, gentle girl, Cora was always left standing on the outside.

NARRATION: Part of it was that the other children knew about Lynette.

Panel 2

Children watch through a rain-streaked window as Cora walks home alone in the rain.

CHILD 1: Is Cora's mom making her walk home in the rain again?

CHILD 2: Cora must be a really bad kid if even her own mom hates her.

NARRATION: To them, Cora was tainted, untouchable.

Panel 3

Children discuss a party while Cora walks away alone.

CHILD: Did you hear about Clarissa's birthday party? Everybody is invited!

CHILD: Well, except for you know who.

NARRATION: But, Cora had her own "family."

Kids also pick up on the weirdness of each others’ parents. A neglectful or insane parent is a free ticket to attack another child without worrying about your own parents finding out about it.
