A bus screeches to a halt at a station. A woman's bags are on the curb.

SFX: "SKREECH!"

WOMAN: "HEY!"

WOMAN: "Are those MY bags on the curb?"

Rachel holds nuts/energy bars like treasure.

TEXT BOX: "Pack lightweight, high-protein foods like nuts or energy bars."

RACHEL: "Mine... all Mine!"

PANEL 4

Rachel looks at the "World's Biggest Peach" roadside attraction, giggling.

TEXT BOX: "Travelling by land lets you see parts of the country you would miss from the sky."

RACHEL: giggle

PANEL 5

Rachel dressed as a pirate with an eye patch, looking at an atlas while a stern bus driver watches.

TEXT BOX: "Bring a road atlas. Navigating is fun!"

RACHEL: "Arr, we be travellin' down yon Rt 66 as the Rolling Stones of yore did sing of!"

DRIVER: "Get back in your seat, ma'am."

Two women with headphones listen to audiobooks on the bus.

TEXT BOX: "Listen to audio books (available at your local library). They're like reading... without the nausea!"

I used that pirate Rachel image as my avatar on meetup.com for so long. I adore it! Alas, the heart and crossbones became a trademark for Tokidoki, or I would be using it for Rachel the Great right now.

I would get books on CD at the library and plan out what I would be reading during the trip, pulling the tracks onto this USB MP3 player I had. I read so much Eric Schlosser and Dave Barry on my convention tours!
