A dramatic full-page panel. Rachel stands at the top, lifting the lid of the pithos. Dark smoke billows out from the box, flowing downward. Below, looking up from inside the darkness, we see a giant distorted view of Rachel's shocked face peering down into the box, her eyes wide and mouth open in horror. The perspective makes her face appear huge and fragmented through the opening.
That box always looked like those joke chattering teeth to me (or dentures/teeth in general). With that in mind, knowing all the problems you had with your own mouth gives it a whole new meaning for me (even if it was unintentional). It seems appropriate, in your case, that the woes of the world come from something that looks like warped teeth. Very neat.
Then I guess I’m not the only one who thinks it looks like fake chattering teeth.
