Sparrow’s Move, Page 2

PANEL 1

At the movie theater concession area. Sparrow looks hopeful while Rachel is buying popcorn and drinks.

SPARROW: "Maybe we could try again...?"

RACHEL: "Maybe. I'd like that."

PANEL 2

A curly-haired person wearing a shirt with a cat face stands in front of Rachel. Rachel looks annoyed.

RACHEL: "Who was that guy?"

CURLY-HAIRED PERSON: "My failed date from last week."

PANEL 3

Small panel showing Rachel from a distance, with Sparrow in a polka dot background asking questions.

SPARROW: "The one your cat beat up?"

PANEL 4

Rachel looks embarrassed, a small growl is heard.

SFX: growl...

PANEL 5

Close-up of Sparrow looking understanding.

SPARROW: "Yes. That one."

PANEL 6

Rachel's thinking process illustrated with symbolic images: herself, plus Sparrow, equals a man, which leads to a broken heart.

RACHEL: "Hmm..."

Oh Calvin, so noncommittal–so frustrating!

Loving the flashback panel of Tuna attacking Calvin. It’s got a great angle, great dramatization, great body language.

And here we see that Sparrow’s motivation for boob-blocking Rachel is not so much that she wants the boy that she wants to cause Rachel heartbreak. That’s messed up. But then again, she did get a Rachel-esque Self Doubt Fairy. Maybe she thinks she needs to keep Rachel in her place.
