The First of the Season, Page 2

PAGE 2, PANEL 1

A beautiful full-page illustration. Rachel and Tuna stand in a snow-dusted forest clearing, seen from behind. Bare trees frame the scene on both sides, and beams of pale winter light filter through. A single thread or trail (perhaps the first snowflake of the season) descends from the sky. Fallen leaves are scattered on the ground, and the atmosphere is peaceful and contemplative.

Notice how the last page was Autumn Grey and here we see the first shock of Winter Blue, that strange, cold blue you only see on winter nights in the shadows of freshly fallen snow.

I did a good job with the perspective on the trees here. Notice how they get paler and fuzzier the farther they are from us.

I love how you drew the trees; they give a solitary vibe.

You can also see that shade early in the mornings, just as it starts to get light.
