The Great American Romance Novel, Page 2

PANEL 1

Tuna surprises Rachel from behind.

TUNA: "Rachel!"

RACHEL: "Ack!"

TUNA: "Where's the duct tape?"

PANEL 2

Rachel looks annoyed with hearts floating around her, clutching something behind her back.

RACHEL: "It's under my bed, where it always is."

RACHEL: "Don't sneak up on me like that!"

TUNA: "Thanks!"

PANEL 3

Tuna returns carrying a box labeled "CAT CONDO" while Rachel nervously hides her book.

TUNA: "My Cat Condo arrived today!"

TUNA: "'Some assembly required,' my foot—"

TUNA: "What's that?"

RACHEL (thinking): "Must... hide... book..."

PANEL 4

Rachel confesses while Tuna reads from the back of the book.

RACHEL: "I-it's a romance novel."

TUNA (reading): "'She was a cowgirl. He was an Indian. Their passion was forbidden!'"

TUNA: "Sounds kinky."

TUNA: "Is there any actual sex in this?"

Subtle joke: Why does Rachel keep the duct tape under her bed? Eh? EH?

Thus begins Tuna’s most adorable role yet: kitty handyman, building his own mailorder cat condo. Just daw.
