The Naming of Tuna, Page 2

PAGE 2, PANEL 1

Rachel holds a black kitten (Tuna).

NARRATION: "Several years later I was adopted by black cat number two."

RACHEL: "I shall call him Two-na for he is my number two!"

KITTEN TUNA: "Hey, it's better than 'Mr. Bigglesworth'!"

PAGE 2, PANEL 2

At a veterinary office, a vet tech reads from a clipboard while a cat calendar hangs on the wall behind her.

NARRATION: "But the vets kept mispronouncing it."

VET TECH: "Hello, Tah-wah-nah needs his shots..."

PAGE 2, PANEL 3

Tuna looks furious, depicted in an angry spiky silhouette. Rachel looks annoyed.

NARRATION: "Tuna didn't like that."

TUNA: "I am not a girl! Tawana is a chick's name!"

RACHEL: "Don't they get that it's a play on words?"

PAGE 2, PANEL 4

Rachel holds Tuna while explaining.

NARRATION: "So I changed the spelling to 'Tuna'."

PERSON (off-panel): "I thought his name was Tah-wah—"

RACHEL: "Just go with it."

SFX: "fzzzzzt sneeeze!"

Oh wow, baby Tuna is adorable. I would own a plushie Tuna kitten with eyepatch and not be ashamed.

This is 100% true. His name was originally spelled “Tuna.” At one point there was a Trina on the calf farm, but she wasn’t friendly and died wild.

I used the angry Tuna picture from the last panel to make an angry Tuna button. It was a best seller. I think it makes a great emoticon/avatar, too. Nice.
