PANEL 1

Rachel studies at her desk, looking tired.

RACHEL: "I've been studying all night, and I still don't feel ready for the finals tomorrow."

PANEL 2

Rachel slumps forward in defeat.

RACHEL: "What's the use?"

RACHEL: "I'm just no good at calculus."

PANEL 3

A glowing green fairy appears beside Rachel, who looks shocked. The fairy wears a top hat and has an elegant but sinister appearance.

SELF DOUBT FAIRY: "'No good,' ha!"

SELF DOUBT FAIRY: "You downright suck at it!"

RACHEL: "What the--?!"

RACHEL: "Is this some kind of sleep deprived hallucination?"

At this point I was expecting to start gathering the comics into mini-comics for sale periodically. So I would keep track of which side each page would fall on when published. I was expecting this one to have the spine on the left, so I put the fairy on the right so she’d pop off the page instead of getting swallowed by the neck of the book! Little details like this make a huge difference when you take a web comics to print. You don’t notice it online, but you do in print.

    squeals with glee This is one of my FAVOURITE of the comics you ever made! I still refer to my own moments of self-doubt as the Self-Doubt Fairy just because of this comic. I love it

    Hm, good advice about the page layout. I just plain wouldn’t have thought about it if you hadn’t mentioned it. (And possibly been very, very sad at some point.)
