Things That Rub Me the Wrong Way: Assumptions, Page 2

PAGE 2, PANEL 1

A guy in a jersey (number 69) talks to Rachel, who looks furious and restrained.

GUY: "You won't go out with me."

GUY: "You must be a lesbian!"

RACHEL (thinking): "Must... resist... urge... to kill!"

"Note from the Author"

Illustration showing Rachel in the center with Tuna the cat, surrounded by character sketches of Brenda, Ms. Cluck (a chicken), and Sparrow.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: "This is a design I did for a promotional piece. Brenda is a character from back in my first graphic novel, 18 Revolutions. I want to bring her back into the comic, but I haven't found the right moment yet. I was also toying around with the idea of a non-talking chicken mascot. Tuna fits the anthropomorphic animal mascot bill, but a hen would have given him someone other than Rachel to bounce around with while highlighting the rural aspects of the storylines. Will Brenda and Ms. Cluck ever appear in a comic? I wouldn't be surprised!"

Here’s some extra promotional material I had added to the minicomics, too. Love Ms. Cluck!

I’m not sure where the expression, “Assumptions make an ass of you and me!” comes from, but comments at gURL.com lead me to believe that it may have originated in this SCTV skit:
